About Us

The BATLite® tactical shelter lighting system is manufactured, marketed and sold in New Albany, Indiana.

BATLite began operations in 2010 and sold its first lights that year to the U.S. Marine Corps, which employed our lights in their Experimental Forward Operating Base (ExFOB) in Afghanistan. The purpose of the ExFOB was to demonstrate how using energy efficient equipment like our LED lights could reduce fuel consumption in portable power generators, thereby saving energy costs and potentially saving the lives of soldiers driving tanker trucks to FOBs, since these drivers were frequent victims of IEDs.

Then in 2012, the U.S. Army purchased BATLite lights for testing by the Force Provider group, which soon recognized the benefit of installing the lights in the tent and leaving them there permanently — a distinct advantage to rapidly deploying temporary shelters.

In 2015, the ultimate endorsement from the U.S. military came when the BATLite system was selected as Force Provider’s Chosen Expeditionary Light. Significant purchase orders followed thereafter for nearly 50,000 lights as part of 10- and 14-light kits.

BATLite is patented (USPTO #8491155B1), and the U.S. military’s National Stock Numbers have been issued for all our products. This has enabled BATLite to market and sell its lights to all branches of the U.S. military, the National Guard and other expeditionary forces, as well as emergency management organizations and emergency responders.
